About the site and the project
What is Morchella Fungi Site actually and where did the idea for this project come from?
First of all, MFS is a web site completely dedicated to the amazing world of mushrooms and mycology as some kind of hobby, which, in this modern turbulent way of life, could be an inexhaustible source of energy and relaxation, and excellent way for “battery charging”. The site has primary been justified as a virtual nook, which would gladly be visited not only by each mushrooms gatherer, but also by each ecologically revived person and I, as its author, honestly hope that its educative character will also be expressed fully in right way. What is important to emphasize in this point is a fact that MFS and its content visitors are not suppose to accept as something with the epithet of “professionalism”, but first of all as a wish of its author and editor to share with other people with similar affinities our observations and to present our work, to make the first mycology steps easier and eventually to enable acquiring new knowledge relating fungi kingdom. I am aware that creating of something like this is an ambitious project however at the same time I hope we'll make to fulfil all your expectations and to satisfy your tastes. I consider this site will also contribute of getting stronger the mycology scene in BH, which relating the geographical position and the climate in our country so as biological diversity especially of the fungi world, deserve to be on a high level. On this occasion I have to put the special accent on the Association of mushrooms gatherers and funs of nature from Mrkonjic Grad so as on their first-class
website, which has been the only on-line mycology resource in BH at all until the moment of starting this project. That is the reason why forming these virtual data bases about mushrooms more exactly their “cartographing” for territory of BH is of great significance and I hope MFS will contribute to that partly.
The structure of MFS itself has been justified in a way that the biggest accent will be put on the “Fungi catalogue” which will be updated regularly with new kinds and with information about their usage and morphology. Besides that I believe that the other content of the site (photo and video galleries, various stories, photos of spores …) will be interesting for the regular visitors and we'll try to update and to refresh it constantly. I have to mention here that all of you who have wish, as visitors, can participate in creating the look of the site itself, first of all with sending quality and interesting materials any kind so as to warn us and to call our attention to all possible omissions and mistakes (I would say it's human to make mistakes but I can't afford myself such freedom because of the subject sensitivity).
The MFS site has been adjusted for all visitors abroad (to be honest, for now it is in minimal extent) and in the future we'll pay a special attention on additional options and explanations. In this moment there are translations in English, French and German for the most interesting parts of the site so the navigation and orientation for foreign visitors be easier.
